The volcano in Hawaii has been erupting since 1983, the longest in the world.
There was lots of Hiking around the volcano, and there were people from
all over the world talking to each other in different languages. All of them,
no matter which language they were speaking, would look at my shirt and say
"Yoda"

The plume is the steam from the lava hitting the ocean

Once you hike/bike for 5 miles, there is a little more to go!

The lava has just wiped out this community over the last 15 years, some people have already rebuilt some houses.
I wonder if they can get lava insurance?

I highly recommend a bike, it cuts the time in half, even if you have to walk the bikes up the hill.

We stayed at the Volcano house, and you can see the volcano from the resturaunt in the hotel.

You can go to Jagger Museum to see the volcano up close:

The next day there was a rainbow

My Yoda shirt everyone seems to recognize...
There were all sorts of trails around the volcano, you could spend all day hiking through the jungle

The volcano Village is pretty small, but it had this wonderful Thai Restaurant

The solid lava was pretty neat to walk on

Steam was coming up from under the trails

They had a free telescope at the Jagger Museum:

The volcano had noticably more lava popping the second day!

The lava tube was really cool,

Most of the rentals were Jeeps

Here is the boat we took for the lava tour, this is the biggest boat, there are two smaller boats for the lava tour.
The next day he ran out of gas on the way back....
I recomend the early 5:30am tour, the later ones get canceled from too much wind.

The boat sounded like the propeller was hitting rocks, the captain said it was air bubbles from the lava.
